SF47 Marathon Previews
The original binge view…
Long before streaming videos, before blu-rays, before DVDs, before cable TV, before VHS, we decided to have a 24 hour binge view of great, and not-so great science fiction films. Now it is 47 years later and we gather in the classic Somerville Theatre. We are the longest running genre fest with the longest running all day, all night cinematic event.
Anywhere from 12-14 films, plus cartoons, trailers, guests and surprises play continuously. Each year we look for something new different. Sometimes it is a 70 mm film; sometimes it is a silent with with live accompaniment, sometimes it is a rarely seen gem and sometimes it is films so bad you howl at the screen. Whatever it is, the sum is always greater than the parts.
